Read Ephesians 5:25-33

All that we are, and all whom we know and love, should be touched by the Savior’s hand who touches us. We should be known in the world and in the church as kind, generous, considerate, loving people. People who are “worthy of the calling with which you have been called.”

The primary relationship where this is to be true is at home with your families. You should be the best sister, the best brother, the best mate that anyone ever had.

But I would submit to you, the closest human relationship designed by God is the oneness of a husband and wife. The marriage relationship is the closest and most intimate relationship known and enjoyed by mankind. It is also the most vulnerable to sinfulness and ill behavior.

Ephesians 5.25-33 is one of the most unique passages in all of Scripture.  It teaches two distinct and yet parallel truths at the same time. One illustrates the other, and vice versa. Husband to wife; Christ to church.
It is a double analogy, and a double reality.
