Read 1 Thessalonians 4:1-7

The 9th verse in our text tells us plainly that Christians are “taught
by God to love one another.” Our love for the brothers and sisters in
the faith is the telling mark of our relationship to God. This love is
broad in scope but at the same time we are not to waste the potential.
There were those in the Thessalonian church who because of their
belief in the impending return of Christ turned personal
responsibility into a liability to the church as they waited for
Christ without working. The Holy Spirit says that if you don’t work
then you can’t eat.
We are to continue to live in loving relationships, we are to grow in
grace, we are to live peacefully and do our own work so that we can
provide for our own needs and have something left to share with
others.
