Read Philippians 1:1-11

The story of the Apostle Paul’s relationship with the church at Philippi is one of mutual support and respect. The Philippian believers were the ones who supported Paul on his missionary endeavors to the point that they “gave out of their poverty” so that the Gospel might go forward.

The warmth and love between them was more than just one of Apostle and convert. Paul says very clearly in verse 7,

“For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me.”

As we minister and support others in the work of the Gospel, we too develop warm and loving relationships with those who work for us in foreign lands and with those who work along side us at home. Like Paul and the Philippians, we can truly say we also have brothers and sisters in our hearts who share in God’s work.
